Andy has served as a Wokingham Borough councillor for seven years, representing the ward of Bulmershe & Whitegates – on the border of Earley and Woodley. The reorganisation of the Borough’s ward boundaries has seen his old ward split between four other wards.

Wescott is Andy’s home ward. Andy lives in Crescent Road, in the heart of Wescott and has lived in this part of Wokingham for over ten years with a similar period in Norreys ward prior to that.

Andy has worked hard in the communities he has represented to date and wants to bring the same energy, drive and commitment to his own community.

Andy has a reputation as a practical, ‘hands-on’ councillor who is always looking for workable solutions to the problems and issues facing residents.

Andy was elected to Wokingham Town Council in May 2023 and represents Norreys East ward which now overlaps with Wescott ward.

Andy grew up in Wokingham, his mum was born here, and his family have been in Wokingham since the 1890s.

Andy grew up on a council estate in Finchampstead, went to the Forest School and served with the local Territorial Army unit, based in Reading.

After teaching for many years in Sudan and Kenya, Andy retuned to the UK to raise his family and re-trained as an Accountant. Before starting to volunteer in local politics Andy’s main contribution to the community was volunteering as an age-group manager at Bracknell Rugby Football Club.

Andy knows that he can make our area cleaner, tidier and safer and asks your support for this mission.

Andy has led or attended over 100 local Community Speedwatch sessions in our area and including on Bean Oak Road, Waterloo Road, Oak Avenue and William Heelas Way.

He takes part in almost all of the local Labour activities organised by Councillor Rachel Burgess – he is never in the photos because always takes the photos after helping out with the task at hand!

He has spoken to thousands of local residents in our area and knows the area well.
