Wokingham Constituency Labour Party On Your Side in Wokingham Constituency
Sign the petition to support lowering the speed limit from 30mph to 20mph on Hawthorn and the tributary roads.

"I have seen for myself how fast people drive here. We need a 20mph limit here to help families feel safe." Shinfield councillor, Andrew Gray.

Traffic Speeds
Last year, your Shinfield Labour team canvassed this area. Over the course of many warm conversations with residents it was made clear to us that many, many people thought the current speed limit—30mph—on Hawthorn and the tributary roads was too high.
A numbers of concerns were raised about why 30mph was too high but almost everyone we spoke to raised it as an issue.
Speed limits are set by Wokingham Borough Council (WBC). Your local Shinfield Labour team has made a formal application to Wokingham Borough for the speed limit to be reduced to 20mph. A reduced speed limit will make the area safer and more pleasant for all who lives here.
The application will now undergo a formal technical review by Council officers. Even if successful, this can be a lengthy (several years) process—but the process has started.
It is important to demonstrate local support for the change in speed limit.
"We knock on doors to see if there are any local issues we can help with. Speeding is clearly an issue here." Shinfield campaigner Sarah Bell

As much support as possible
We would like to show there is as much support as possible from local residents. It would be great if it least one person from every household were to sign—but the more the better!
