Andy grew up on a council estate in Wokingham, served in the reserve Forces and taught in Sudan and Kenya before changing career to become an accountant. He has one grown up son who, like Andy, was educated at The Forest School, Winnersh. For two years Andy was the only Labour councillor on Wokingham Borough Council.

Andy believes a strong opposition is vital in a Council dominated by the Conservatives. Labour campaigns to reverse cuts to bus services, to stop the Conservatives taxing child maintenance, to stop taxing carers and to shame the other councillors into freezing their ever increasing allowances are examples of where Andy and Labour opposition have made a difference.  With the cost of living crisis engulfing the borough it is more important then ever that Labour councillor are elected to be on the side of residents.

Andy has set up a Community Speedwatch Group to help tackle the problem of speeding on local roads. Speeding is not just dangerous, it is anti-social. Often residents are upset by the sound of speeding cars. Some drivers need to be reminded that every road in our area is in a residential area and drivers must respect residents. Andy is determined, with the support of residents, to tackle this problem.

“Rocketing fuel bills, petrol prices going up, food prices going up, wages and pensions not keeping up with inflation, tax going up, Council tax going up, the government simply has to do more.
Voting Labour in a local election won’t put more money in your pocket but it WILL make the government listen and hopefully change their polices to help more local people” said Andy.
